Indian operator's chairman says tariffs will need to be higher to recoup
spectrum costs; shares plans for nationwide 3G coverage.
Bharti Airtel has warned that prices for its 3G services will not be cheap,
particularly for its city-dwelling customers, as India's number one mobile
operator looks to recoup the high cost of acquiring spectrum.
Bharti's Chairman Sunil Mittal plans to charge more for access to 3G
services in telecom service areas � called circles � in which the company
paid a higher price for spectrum, according to a *Press Trust of India *story
that appeared in the *Hindustan Times *on Sunday.
"My view is that... it would be circle-dependent, like C circles will not be
very expensive, but in circles that have gone very high in the 3G auction,
the price will have to adjust," said Mittal, in the report.
India's 22 telecom circles are divided into four categories � Metro,
Category A, Category B, and Category C. Metro and Category A circles include
wealthier and more densely populated areas of the country such as Delhi,
Mumbai, Maharashtra and Gujarat, and as such had more expensive base prices
and attracted higher bids in the country's recently completed 3G auction.
Monthly blended ARPU in India's mobile market currently stands at $4 (186
rupees), with the average revenue for new customers coming in at 20-30%
below that, according to a recent

However, Mittal stressed that 3G services will likely cost significantly
more per month, especially for customers living in Metro circles.
"Take the example of Delhi itself, or Mumbai � the amount for spectrum that
has been charged is close to 3,500 crore each... Just to recover licence
fees and input cost, it works out to 700-900 rupees per month," he said.
Bharti Airtel paid 33.17 billion rupees, or close to US$700 million, for its
3G spectrum in Delhi.
"The pricing of subscriber tariffs have to be based on the input cost,"
Mittal continued. "Any industry relies on input cost and here, the input
cost is spectrum and it has gone high."
Bharti Airtel paid more than any of its rivals � 122.95 billion rupees ($2.6
billion) � to win spectrum in 13 service areas. No single operator was able
to acquire a pan-India 3G licence.

Dt 12.07.2010Historic Victory !!!Congratulations. We have won the case in
the hon,ble Supreme Court. In the verdict Hon'ble Supreme Court dismissed
the petition of officiating JTOs which was filed by them against the
decision of hon,ble High court of Chandigarh. In this way the hurdle of
diversion in the way of promotion from TTA to JTO has been permanently
sorted out and now our vacancies are saved. We convey our sincere thanks to
our petitioners in the case. On the hearing Sh. Dhiraj Chaudhary, Sh.
Dharmendra Verma and Sh. Manish Samadhiya were present in the court room.

*It is popular in Japan today to drink water immediately after waking up
every morning. Furthermore, scientific tests have proven its value. We
publish below a description of use of water for our readers. For old and
serious diseases as well as modern illnesses the water treatment had been
found successful by a Japanese medical society as a 100% cure for the
following diseases:
Headache, body ache, heart system, arthritis, fast heart beat, epilepsy,
excess fatness, bronchitis asthma, TB, meningitis, kidney and urine

If you have an Airtel Internet connection with an �unlimited� data plan,
things may not be the same again.Under its Fair Usage Policy, if your
downloads cross 40 GB, your download speed will be �rationalised by up to 50
per cent for the rest of the billing cycle�. What this means is that you
will get only half the speed. For example, if you have opted for the 512
Mbps unlimited plan, if you cross 40 GB, your download speeds will be
reduced to 256 Mbps till the billing cycle. The normal speed will be
