Dear All,
With reference to the queries on duty timings plus ot etc, you may refer the
swamy guide book. Also, Bsnl, during finalisation of pay commission, these
aspects are left untouched which are likely to be revised positively after the
verification of union is over, till then status quo to be maintained. Right now
I dont have the swamy guide, else, most of ur queries are answered from the
guide. There might be some policy letters/administrative/financial orders of
BSNL which may also to be referred alongwith Swamy Guide for these
clarifications. Atleast all admin section will have these copies, if not the
recognised union will definitely have the latest swamy guide copy.

Also, I request our Union SNATTA bearers to purchase a swamy guide (appx cost
Rs. 200/-) of latest edition and retain for future reference.
If I recollect my memory, first one hour after regular duty hours is free and no
OT to be claimed, and the night duty to have double the rate. (2200 to 0600hrs)
OT is allowed only if one is not compensated with off, and the maximum hours of
OT allowed in a month is 30 hours excluding TH/NH days. Present OT rate is Rs.
21.15 per hour and if u perform 8 hrs OT, 7 1/2 hr to be calculated for OT and
30 mnt to be given for lunch break, hence per day OT will become Rs. 159/-. This
is a very meagre amount compare to the present day salary. The revision is
likely to be taken up alongwith "Other Perks" discussions to be held with Mgmnt.
Hence it is always better to take compensatory off for the time being, if
feasible. The claim for OT to be raised within one year, else, ex-post facto
sanction is to be obtained from competent authority to avoid audit objections.

But beyond the pecuniary benefits, we the TTA lots are committed to the work
ethics and also bend upon the welfare & progress of BSNL and its obligations
towards the customer, so it is advisable to sail on the boat along with the
immediate superior for a healthy atmosphere in the place of work, instead of
fighting for the rights. Because, we dont work for the entire 8 hours of our
regular duty timings, hence this is a give and take principle to have a mutual
understanding with superiors, in one way, not to burden the BSNL much, at the
same time, not to have over stretched your physical & mental balance without any
relief.
During commissioning of new exchanges, we used to work tirelessly on so many
nights without claiming any benefits, as we enjoy the time when we are free to
relax without any work load.
