Dear Harmit!
Your observation is right. The PC hang problem occurs only in Bridge mode,
because in this mode your computer is directly exposed to outside world, unless
a firewall is installed, modem just acts as a bridge. In most of the ADSL CPE,
in PPPoE or 'Always On' mode, you have to switch on NAT and firewall, in some
CPE it is automatic, so your computer is hidden from outside world and cannot be
attacked, unless you lower your firewall settings.
Try using the newest of fast Browsers, like, TheWorld (which I am using now, it
is damn fast!), Google Chrome Plus, Opera latest version (you can operate with
verbal commands, try it!).
But to get a fast browsing experiences, you should regularly scan your computer
with latest updated anti-virus, clear history, offline files, cookies etc, and
empty your C:\windows\temp folder, though you may not be able to cancel 3-4
files, which you can leave as it is. Restart your computer and happy browsing!!!

first of all hello, i am not master but i m working in broadband & outdoor
section (5year)with my colics mr suminder singh & Mr devinder kumar we found
that if windows at customer end is not activate , in dialup connection pc will
be hang its not mater which antivirus installed at cpe.. other hand if they
use windows internet explorer, its try internally  update  or create massage
'send-- don't send 'Microsoft catch it and some reg. files effective( how its
long chapter ) .there are two  option we use mostly  one modem config always on
mode and other use Mozilla ,and chrome as browser. when
we installation  Mozilla`` one step choose carefully 'do not import from
explorer'option . use teamviwer for desktop sharing .

these all setting we made at cpe then we installer modem first time
its working, so that we received  little one complaisant again pc hang

hi,
never go for FASTEST and compromise your privacy and security.
Instead go for SAFEST and Flexible Browser.
i recommend Firefox only.

*dear saha,* TheWorld Browser uses the Microsoft Internet Explorer engine so
the risks of hacking and hijacking is Highest in your said browser. so pls
try to use better browsers among FireFox, chrome or opera only.
dont clean your Offline Files and Internet Temporary Files regularly unless
u have less disk storage space. larger the disk cache, faster the browser.
Dear friends, pls avoid Internet Explorer while surfing net. as its the most
vulnerable browser in the market.

regards,
*Bandhan Preet Singh*

Parliamentary panel seeks views on BSNL, MTNL merger

NDTV Correspondent, 10 September, 2010

The Parliamentary Accounts Committee, which has been looking into the issue
of new telecom licences awarded by Telecom Minister A Raja, has now also
turned its attention to BSNL and MTNL.

The committee has written to the Department of Telecom, asking why the
telecom ministry is not allowing BSNL and MTNL to merge which could help
revive the two government-owned telecom giants.

The financial performance of both the companies has plummeted over the last
few years in the face of intensifying completion in the sector and rising
staff expenses. (Watch: BSNL, MTNL merger on the
cards?<http://profit.ndtv.com/video/show/163010>
)

In the past, the ministry has turned down various proposals to merge BSNL
and MTNL.

The Public Accounts Committee has sought the telecom ministrys views on a
merger, saying that a combination of the entities will widen their reach.

strike<http://profit.ndtv.com/news/show/mtnl-union-opposes-job-cuts-threatens-strike-97489>

It has also sought details about BSNLs recently canceled equipment tender.
