again friends afraiding... But afraiding for reumors spread by group B and above.
The process of DR always initiated after the prior approval of Finance Ministry.
DRs not hav to worry at all. The loaning is a usual practise which is done by organisations frequently. The state govt take many time such loans to payoff their employees, it doesnt mean that they are inproductive. Furthermore DRs pay is always protected as we are BSNL's self recrutd and trained manforce. Wht a corporation may do is that it can declare certain cadre as dying cadre. What BSNL will do is first it will decrease the number of old employes thru VRS and aftr that it will get a parliamentary amendment to get the dying cadre approval thru parliament and make the old workforce to bare minimum.

DRs Need not to worry atall.

3b. An initiative I took few months ago

Please find a draft I made and put it across through our DE who happened to be circle secretary of some union that I do not know.  Can we (through our SNATTA) take up such issues directly that requesting someone to do the same?  Ofcourse some combo plans were issued after pushing up this draft.  I am not sure whether this has made the impact or someone took initiative at some management position.  Can we take up some such things through our association?  If so, I welcome the young ones to throw some ideas so that we can draft them and push it through the headquarters.  I will be very happy to be a part of such struggle.  The idea to reproduce the old draft that I put up is just to see whether we can do a bit of thinking on such lines and push things through our association.  Correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks  in  advance

It is needless to reiterate that copper pair has regained its credit after the ADSL signal has been injected into it.  Also, it may not be out of point to mention that the prominence of landline, in the present scenario wherein the mobile communication has gained popularity due to many reasons, has become questionable and the same is being treated as the inferior technology with limited scope for value added services when compared to the mobile segment.

Also, the rate of increment of broadband connections has been under pressure due to various other options available in the market though the ADSL on landline is still a leader.  However, it is very important to accelerate the rate of increment in broadband connections and help the landline segment to withstand the pressure by the peers.  The following are few suggestions to help accelerate growth in broadband connections:-

(i)            No of plans existing may be reduced so that the customer finds it convenient to select a plan.   A simple study in the number of connections in each plan can help arrive at a figure.

(ii)            In the recent combo plans issued, the night unlimited option i.e. 0200 hrs to 0800 hrs has been eliminated which makes the new plans unpopular.  The same may be re-introduced.

(iii)            In case of limited plans, there should not be any speed restriction.  The speed restriction may be made applicable to only unlimited plans.

(iv)            Recent business combo plans are really welcome.  Due to Business Plan 2799 Combo, older 8 Mbps plans and few business plans do not hold any purpose and hence may be cancelled.

(v)            Introduction of a dynamic plan will be a very good idea.  The moment customer crosses the limit of one plan, he/she should be placed in the next higher plan dynamically so that the customer will be encouraged to use the service once the limit is reached.  Present pattern forces the customer to stay well within the limit and discourage further usage due to higher per MB cost.

(vi)            A better idea will be to popularise combo plans and discard other plans as giving free calls to the customers may motivate the customers to initiate calls from the landline.  Presently, the customers of broadband connections with SULABH landline scheme, do not initiate calls.   The calls initiated from the landlines are slowly decreasing and such a measure will motivate the customers to use the landline line to initiate calls. As the broadband is a value added service to the landline, growth in landline connections and broadband connections go hand in hand.  Any step to improve any of these two services will result in growth of other service automatically.

A report of the popularity of each existing plan may be worked out prior to introduction of any new plan.  Else, increase in the number of plans may not make much difference to the growth in this sector.

4a. Re: Loan for salary

Dear friends,
Financial constraints are there. After December we may face some restriction. Allowances such as canteen allowance, personal up gradation allowance, medical allowance, over time etc may be blocked. In a worse situation there may be only basic pay for some months. But take it in a positive manner. We are not the first loss making PSU in India. MTNL, ITI etc. are already in loss. The loss making companies give salary to employees by taking grand from Government. BSNL management may approach the Government for the same(already approached). But the Government would give grand on certain conditions. They are VRS, public issue of certain percentage of shares etc. Presently unions are opposing it. But the employees, who are getting only basic pay for some months, would pressurise unions for agreeing the conditions. Old employees would be praying for a VRS at the earliest. NOFA(National optical fibre agency) is now not in the plans and BSNL is getting that
project of interconnecting all the villages through OF. Streams will be given to other operators on a rental basis so that we can survive in the future.
On the basis of assets and infrastructure BSNL is a giant. So no need to worry for the young and qualified employees. Be prepared to face some tight situation for a short period.
