hi PARDHASARDHI.
if u r not seeing any LAN Icon as u said that LAN is present and u have installed the Driver then u r 99% infected with VIRUS/Worm.
Now note down some other things:-
If LAN card is present(whether On Board or External)then first
see the things from hardware perspective.
See BIOS and look for LAN if its been detected by your motherboard.
If its there then boot windows and check Device Manager. Look out for Title
Network >> Ethernet Controller.
if its there then your hardware is OK there is a problem in Software (Windows). likely reasons are Virus or windows file corrupt.
If LAN is not present in BIOS the your LAN card is Faulty or loosely connected or the LAN slot might be faulty.
If LAN is present in BIOS but not showing in Device manager the windows might be corrupt ot Virus or Driver of the LAN is Wrong.
If the LAN is shown in Device manager with yellow color (question mark sign) then U need to pick right driver for you Hardware (LAN Card).
Hope you got some solutions for your problem.
regards,
Bandhan Preet Singh,
Broadband Engineer,
BSNL, Mohali.

> For seperately fitted LAN card, check from Device Manger, if it is properly installed. if u see any ! or ? (yellow colour) mark against any 'Network Controller' or 'Communication controller', then it is driver problem.
