[TTABSNL] Which is the best website for checking the Internet (Broadband) Speed.??

hi friends,

Which is the best website for checking the Internet Connection (or Broadband) Speed.??

Many of my Friends/Subscribers/Users asked me this above question. After some research in past, i found that speed test by BSNL's website is not as accurate as the Internationally acclaimed website http://www.speedtest.net/

(Note:- Above Website http://www.speedtest.net/ Uses Java and Flash to work properly. While going through your Internet Speed Test please close down any Software/Program using Internet)

i recommend all the Internet surfers to test their Download Speed as well as Upload Speed on this website as this provide rational speed test,
Irrespective of your Connection Type/Company/Media/Method, like

1. Broadband (DSL)
2. Cable
3. Dial-up Line.
4. Wi-fi
5. Data Cards (CDMA, Plug to Surf)
6. Lease Lines
7. Wi-Max
8. GPRS
9. 3G
10. EDGE
11. ISDN
12.Fiber

The above website provide speed results in Mega Bits per Seconds (Mbps) so you can convert it into Kilo Bits (Kbps) by Multiplying the result by 1024.

The download speed of any type of file is always measured in Kilo Bytes (KB) so we can convert above Kbps result into KBps by Dividing the Kbps number by 8.

In short, Speed in Mbps can be converted into KBps by multiplying the Mbps number by 128.

I want to clear some doubts regarding Internet Surfing Speed and Downloading Speed of file.

Internet or Surfing speed is generally calculated in Kbps (Kilo Bits Per Second) and Downloading Speed is generally Calculated in KBps (Kilo Bytes Per Second).

If we knew our Internet connection speed in Kbps then we can divide it by 8 to get the Downloading Speed i,e. speed in KBps.

For Example, If BSNL is giving 256Kbps speed in Home 750 Unlimited Plan then we will get approx. 32 KBps downloading speed

If we are having Home 500 Combo Plan which is having 2 Mbps speed then we will get 256 KBps downloading speed.

Internet Speed is always vary from time to time so the practical figures may vary during actual downloading.

Always Check your Speed Five Times and Take best result out of five figures as your speed.

Internet Speed or Downloading Speed depends upon numbers of factors, some are

1. Internet Plan taken from your Service Provider.
2. Operating System Configuration.
3. Modem/Router Limitation.
4. Line/Media Quality.
5. Line/Media Length.
6. Hardware Limitation.
7. Presence of Virus in System.
8. Lack of Technical Implementation.
9. Browser Capabilities.
10. Use of Download Managers.

I hope this piece of information, written exclusively by me, may help my friends in understanding Internet Speed.
