I think you might be misunderstanding the thing. Prefix Er. doesn't mean a BE it is applied for both DE and BE.
No need to create confusion.
All DE or BE are Engineers and they have a right to prefix Er. before their name.

is not an ordinary Ponnala Lakshmaiah, He is "Er.Ponnala Lakshmaiah,"
going by a pylon unveiled by Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhar Reddy at
Angadipet in Pedda Adisarlapally mandal in Nalgonda district on Sunday.
Dr .Reddy uveiled the pylon after laying the
foundation stone for the Srisailam Left Bank Canal tunnel scheme, an
ambitious project of the Congress Government.
People were at a loss to understand why the
name was engraved as "Er. Ponnala Laxmaiah" on the pylon plaque. A
Congress activist with some English knowledge thought that it was a
blunder. "Arre.. instead of "Dr", they carved "Er," he opined. The
confusion prevailed till a couple of reporters met the Minister
himself.
"Haa..Haa..Er stands for engineer. I am an engineer by profession, you know," he clarified with a chuckle.
`Mystery'
A district-level official, who put up a
considerable service in the service, could not control his laughter
when he came to know the "mystery" behind "Er." "It is funny.
He should have made it "Ponnala Laxmaiah, ME. I
have never seen such experiment on any plaque," he said. Nowadays, it
is becoming a practice among engineers to prefix "Er." to their names,
a kin to doctors' "Dr." to highlight their profession.

Its my personal opinion that instead of "Er" an individual can just write his name,followed by the qualification instead of prefixing Er.
Its very much like the "TTA",everytime someone asks what is our designation we have a very hard time making him understand that its Telecom Technical Assistant,some do understand some dont,then we tell him that its same as JE(Junior Engg),he nods his head in confusion and goes his way,laughing talking to a technician posing as an engineer,some even confuse as what a TTE is doing in a department dealing with phone and mobiles.I have actually faced such situations many a times.
So its better not to add some more confusions with us,we are already surrounded by many.
I have also completed my Sec A and Sec B from Institution of Engg but till now havenot got the associate membership other wiese I would have loved to write AMIE after my name.

New Delhi, Nov. 12 -- Alarmed by its falling numbers, the prime minister Manmohan Singh has called for a meeting to review the performance of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL). The company's revenues fell by 6 per cent for the year ending March 2009 over the previous year. Communications Minister A. Raja, Cabinet Secretary K.M. Chandrasekhar and Telecom Secretary P.J. Thomas will be present in the meeting. The date of the review meeting has not yet been fixed. The chairman and managing director (CMD) of BSNL Kuldeep Goyal did not comment. Being a government company, BSNL has to follow a tendering system to procure equipment. This is a lengthy system and the results often take upto two years. During this period, private players have taken the lead in capturing the market. "Whenever BSNL needed equipment most, it was not available due to interference," said D.P.S. Seth, former CMD of BSNL. "As a result, BSNL's marketshare in GSM has been slipping. At one
stage BSNL was almost in the number one position in terms of subscribers." Today, it stands at the No. 4 slot in the mobile market. The other, possibly bigger, problem plaguing the company is its employee structure. Most of its 268,000 employees belong to Groups C and D that comprise linesmen, telephone operators, clerks and so on. More than 35 per cent of BSNL's revenues go towards paying salaries. In contrast, its biggest private competitor Bharti Airtel's salary bill is just 4.3 per cent of revenues. Indian Telecom Service (ITS) officers who are responsible for running the company are paid a lower salary compared to their counterparts in the private sector. On the other hand, the non-core employees take home higher salaries. Clerks and peons take home Rs 50,000 and Rs 30,000 per month respectively. "BSNL has excellent individuals with skill sets that are not being exploited and adequately compensated," said B.K. Syngal, senior principal, Dua
Consulting and former CMD of VSNL. Being a government-run organisation, BSNL is not allowed to give any incentive to its officials for good work.
"The government should privatised BSNL before it becomes too late," said a BSNL official who did not want to be quoted.

After the Chinese demands for Arun achal Pradesh, Google now has started FOOLING Indians as well!
Google shows different maps to Indians and Chinese. In the Indian Version, it shows " Arun achal Pradesh" as a Disputed region
(Not even a part of India ) where as in the Chinese version, it shows Arun achal Pradesh as an INTEGRAL PART of CHINA !
Our bloody politicians have no will. Let us take it up..

Subject: [TTABSNL] BSNL Broadband Error Numbers and its Solutions.
Trouble shooting in Broadband (Dataone)
Problem Description Remedy
Error- 678 This is most common problems. It is due to poor connectivity. 1. Switch off / Switch on Modem (Power Switch at the back of modem) and wait for 2 minutes. Then retry.
2. If problem is still not solved then
A) Check link lamp in Black type Modem or WAN lamp in White Modem. If it is blinking, then it is line problem.
B) Check Modem to splitter connectivity.
i) Remove & Connect the cable of / to the modem and to the splitter
ii) Remove & Connect the telephone connection of the splitter.
3. If lamp is still blinking - then it is due to poor line condition / fault. Call lineman for line change.
4. Check for Virus in Your PC.
5.Disable Firewall in your PC.6. Reinstall Windows
Error- 691 User id and Password problem. Enter correct username and password spellings as details are case sensitive.
Make new Dialer.
Dial
The case is to be Booked in Dotsoft with note "User id and Password problem"
Call NIB for resetting password.
Error- 769
LAN not enabled. The LAN Card has to be enabled by following the steps given below.
i) Go to Desktop.
ii) Right Click "My Network Place".
iii) Click Select Properties.
iv) Right click on LAN Icon Click "Enable the local network".If using USB cable then Install Modem's USB Cable Driver.
Error- 797
Modem or LAN driver problem check computer LAN Card driver or Modem connectivity.
Check for Viruses or corrupt TCP/IP Files
Error- 718 This problem occurs if loading is high on the system and number of customers exceed the call handling capacity of system
Error - 630-633 Computer LAN Card problem. LAN Card has to be changed.
Error- Limited or No Connectivity
IP Address Problem
Give Correct IP Address to LAN card
Error- 735
Dialer problem
Make New Dialer.
Error - 720 Dialer or Virus problem
Make New Dialer
Check for Virus in your PC..
Reinstall Windows
Error- 676
Modem Configuration problem
Give Correct IP Address to LAN card
Change PVC 0/35 to Bridge Mode instead of PPPOE mode
Broadband IP Addresses for LAN >>>
Following IP addresses should be used if Modem is provided by BSNL.
Private Modems may have different IP Addresses.
* IP Address - 192.168.1.2 to 250 (may be given 2,3, 4,......248 or 249 upto 250)
* Subnet Mask - 255.255.255. 0
* Default gateway - 192.168.1.1
* Default DNS Address - 192.168.1.1
Broadband Utilities

Click on Service Record. Details of the current month usage and previous month will be shown.
To change password 1. Click on Service Record.
2. Click on 'change password', give 'Old password', 'New password' and confirm. Password will be changed.
Modem: - 1. After switch ON wait for 2 to 3 minutes to get the modem stable.
2. If telephone line / dial tone problem, complaint should be booked.
3. If Broadband / Internet not working, complaint should be booked in Dotsoft
(Dial 198 from BSNL landline) or contact 1800-424-1600 / 1500.

676 Error - Procedure for MODEM setting
Configure Broadband in pppoe mode and Internet in bridge mode.
BRIDGE mode : Steps:-
1. Connect ADSL modem to your PC with straight Ethernet Cable (RJ45)
2. Open Internet Explorer and type :http://192.168.1.1 and give enter .An windows will open after pressing ENTER button
3. Type user as admin and password as admin in that WINDOW.
4. NOW In the opened window click advanced setup
5. Click edit button against VPI/VCI in the 0/35 row. following below window will open .
6. You will get ATM PVC configuration, make VPI to "0" and VCI to "35" go to next.
7. Select connection type as BRIDGE and click NEXT.
8. Click SAVE. Then In the Wide area network setup window, click Save/Reboot.(In this case modem will be reset automatically ,PC will not reboot.)
9. After2 Minute Connect the broadband.
