Hi Friends ,
We are not only technicians/Engg only . Customers seek our advice on these
products as well. So please keep in mind , they might be lay mens. SO an
antivirous should be : easy to use , effective and affordable for the a general
public point of view.
As for us , many of us might be aware that there is a utility called safe XP
which give one screen control over different services, ports and application
sofware running in your pc for XP. This may be used for protection .

Hi there!
Yes, this is really nice to have such a tech debate going on. But,
I am also a bit amused. There are so many TTAs are using this site,, why don't
they just share their experiences. I expect more and more people should join
this type of discussions, because nobody is perfect and anybody can share a new
line of thought or knowledge.
This debate is not just about virus, the trend of crackers (hackers with
malicious intention) and virus makers
normally make your computer useless once infected, but nowadyas, the trend have
changed. The latest crackers enter your computer, steal all the informations and
leave without harming your computer. So, most of the cases, if you do not have a
firewall, but only antivirus, then you will never know, because, most of the
antivirus is not able to catch them, let it be, AVIRA, AVG, QUICKHEAL, KASPERSKY
etc. Crackers and virusmakers, as I said, will be always one step ahead of us.

hi Anand,
just to share i did my MCSE in 2002.
there is a much difference between believe and actual fact. there should be some
supporting documents to corroborate ur statements.
for me kaspersky and ESET is highly rated products who have a niche in market. i
already submitted some reports earlier.
anyway.. one can believe anything in India and people abroad have a reason for
it. (dont get offended im just writing in a flow)
and yes i declared that i once or may be twice got virus in my system in last 10
yrs because since my computing days i used more of my common sense rather than
jumping on any conclusion. yes i do agree that i made a lot of mistakes and
thats the reason for my experience so far.

9. Indian telecom network has emerged the second largest in the world
Posted by: "Bandhan.P.Singh" email13@gmail.com bsnl_chd
Date: Thu Sep 16, 2010 8:37 am ((PDT))
*Indian telecom network has emerged the second largest in the world* with
total subscriber base of over 670 million at the end of July 2010. With this
overall teledensity in the country has reached over 58 per cent.
*Over the last five years the teledensity in the urban areas has gone up to
125 per cent from 26 per cent while the rural teledensity has risen to over
27 per cent from 1.73 per cent*, telecom minister A Raja said at the curtain
raiser ceremony of 'India Telecom 2010' in New Delhi today.
This, he said, has been made possible by synergy of conducive government
policies and the entrepreneurship zeal of telecom industry and has resulted
in a steep reduction in tariffs, making the telephone affordable for the
common man.
`India Telecom', which started in December 2006, is now an established and
globally recognised event. India Telecom 2010 will provide perfect platform
for interaction between policy makers, regulators, service providers,
manufacturers and content and other accessory providers from across the
world, said Vijay Laxmi K Gupta, member (finance) of the telecom department,
said.
Last year's `India Telecom 2009' had witnessed a tremendous response from
national and foreign participants and was well represented by 250 exhibitors
from 28 countries across the globe, including significant presentation
covering important topics by 30 eminent national and 22 international
speakers.
*This year, `India Telecom 2010' with the theme `Broadband for All' will be
held from 9 to 11 December 2010 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. An
international telecom exhibition, jointly organised by the department of
telecom and the FICCI, is also being held alongside.*

13. Your relationship to your problems

Â
Your relationship to your problems
Obstacles and problems are a part of life. True happiness comes not when we get
rid of all of our problems, but when we change our relationship to them, when we
see our problems as a potential source of advancement in Krishna Consciousness,
opportunities to practice patience, and to learn to depend on Krishna more and
more.
Certainly some problems need to be solved. Many others, however, are problems we
create for ourselves by struggling to make our life different than it actually
is.
We can become more peaceful by understanding and accepting the inevitable
dualities of lifeâ"the pain and pleasure, success and failure, joy and sorrow,
births and deaths. Problems can teach us to be gracious, humble, and patient.
Problem and difficulties are considered to be so important to a life of growth.
It is felt that when life is too easy, there are fewer opportunities for genuine
growth.
When you spend less time running away from problems and trying to rid yourself
of themâ" and more time accepting problems as an inevitable, natural, even
important part of lifeâ"you will soon discover that life can be less of a battle.

14. Cellphones to be charged wirelessly soon

Cellphones to be charged wirelessly soon
mobile phones to be recharged wirelessly by 2012
LONDON: Cell phone users may soon be able to recharge their devices wirelessly.
Japanese technology company Fujitsu has developed a system capable of
simultaneously charging multiple portable electronic devices such as mobile
phones, digital cameras and laptop computers without the need for cable
connections.
Electric cars users may also eventually be able to charge their vehicles
wirelessly using the same technology according to Fujitsu, which unveiled a
prototype system at an Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication
Engineers conference at Osaka Prefecture University. Claiming to be the world's
first of its kind, the technology works on the basis of the transmission of
electricity using magnetic fields between the charger and the electronic device.
The system enables wireless charging at distances of up to several metres, with
the ultimate aim of installing public "charging spots" on the streets in order
to enable easy charging around the clock. Scientists at Fujitsu Laboratories are
planning to commercially sell products incorporating the new wireless charging
system as early as 2012 but did not disclose how much they would cost.
"This technology paves the way to integrating compact wireless charging
functions into mobile phones and enabling multiple portable devices to be
charged simultaneously without any restrictions on their position with respect
to the charger," the Telegraph quoted the company as saying in a

15. Fw: Cellphone Hazards.....its serious..
Posted by: "shahulhameed noorulameen" noorulameen2006@yahoo.co.in noorulameen2006

Dear All
---Forwarded as received---
Subject: Cellphone Hazards.....its serious..
Cellphone Hazards
Dos and Dont's
- Use landlines instead of mobiles wherever possible.
- Don't use a cellphone if the signal is weak-that's when they shoot out more
radiation.
- Talk less, text more; invest in a hands-free kit.
- Opt for a low SAR (specific absorption rate) phone and avoid sleeping with it.
- Children below eight should not be allowed to use mobile phones except in
emergencies.
- It's difficult, but try not to use a cellphone for more than one-two minutes
at a stretch.
- Try to live away from a cell phone tower-ideally more than five km away.
7 Reasons Why You Should Worry
The data is mixed and experts differ. But there's growing concern that the
ubiquitous wireless technology has the potential to become the next public
health disaster.
Heating trouble
Cellphones generate heat and these radiofrequencies are absorbed mostly by the
head and neck. Heavy use increases the risk of raised cellular, tissue as well
as body temperature.
Pregnancy and fertility
Pregnant women more likely to have children with problems. Cellphones can affect
male fertility, too.
Genetic danger
Cellphone and cellphone tower radiation stress cells, releasing DNA-damaging
free radicals and stress proteins that can cause degenerative brain damage like
Alzheimer's, Parkinson's or Multiple Sclerosis.
Sleep disorders
May activate brain's stress system; make people more alert, bring down the
ability to wind down and reduce sleep.
Children run a greater risk
With their developing nervous system, growing tissues, thinner skulls, children
run a greater risk of energy absorption. It can lead to memory loss, inability
to learn and behavioural issues.
Long-term effects
Over 10 years of heavy cellphone use can double the risk of brain cancer and up
the risk of ear tumours by four times. Long-term use, especially on one ear, may
damage tissues in the inner ear and lead to deafness.
Cancer and tumours
Some researchers hold that radiofrequency fields are tumour initiators or they
increase the uptake of carcinogens in cells. The World Health Organisation
Interphone study in 2008 suggested a connection between long-term use and three
types of tumours: glioma, cancer of the parotid (a salivary gland near the ear)
and acoustic neuroma (a tumour that occurs where the ear meets the brain).
-- 7 hours of talk time a week and 56 messages on average. That's how badly
hooked metro indians are to cellphones.

16a. Bonanza for govt employees as Cabinet approves 10% hike in DA

Bonanza for govt employees as Cabinet approves 10% hike in DA
NEW DELHI: Ahead of the festival season, Union cabinet on Thursday approved 10
percentage point hike in Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government
employees and pensioners considering the high rate of inflation in the past six
months.
DA now will be 45 per cent of the basic pay.
The decision aims to extend relief to around 50 lakh employees and 38 lakh
pensioners from the soaring prices as the inflation rate currently was over 15%.
Official sources said the 10% increase will be released with effect from July 1
this year. The central staff already get 35% of their basic pay as DA. The
proposed increase is in accordance with the formula devised by the Sixth Pay
Commission to compensate for price rise.

19. Airtel in talks with Vodafone, Idea for pan-India 3G alliance
Posted by: "Bandhan.P.Singh" email13@gmail.com bsnl_chd
Date: Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:12 pm ((PDT))
* Airtel in talks with Vodafone, Idea for pan-India 3G alliance *
*
**Together, the 3 will have spectrum in all circles except Orissa;
negotiating with other players too.
if BSNL thinks that it has any advantage over others than BSNL is in an
illusion.
*
Bharti Airtel is in talks with other mobile operators, including Vodafone
Essar and Idea Cellular, to form a strategic alliance to offer third
generation services on a pan-India level.
The alliance has been made necessary because none of the operators has won
3G spectrum in all the circles. While Bharti has won spectrum in 13 circles,
Vodafone has 3G airwaves in nine and Idea in 11 circles.
Speaking to Business Line, Mr Sanjay Kapoor, CEO, Bharti Airtel- India and
South Asia, confirmed that talks were on with other players. "The very fact
that the 3G auctions have been a fractured verdict leaves a lot of
opportunity for collaboration. All preparations are on to make sure we offer
pan-Indian 3G experience to our customers. By and large, usage alliances
will happen within the Government rules and regulation."
While Mr Kapoor did not reveal the names of the operators in the alliance or
the nature of the proposed partnership, he said that the deal will be firmed
up before the company starts rolling out its 3G services by December.
Industry sources indicated that Vodafone and Idea could be the likely
partners.
*The three operators together will have 3G spectrum across all the circles
in the country barring Orissa. Bharti, Vodafone and Idea also jointly own
Indus Tower, which will enable them to share basic infrastructure for 3G
rollout. *
Mr Kapoor added that Airtel will begin 3G rollouts starting with the metros
for which deals with equipment suppliers are close to being finalised. On
the price of 3G services to consumers, he added that the high cost of
spectrum combined with the fact that each operator has only 5 Mhz of
bandwidth will ensure that there will not be any unlimited plans
On the availability of 3G devices, Mr Kapoor said that high-end smartphone
devices such as iPhone will not get much traction because the Indian mobile
market is largely pre-paid, and therefore, there is no scope for offering
subsidy on devices like in the US. "The massification of data will happen on
lower end smartphones. India and China will dictate the device market
therefore, the moment these two markets get uptake on data by next year
smartphones will be available at $50," he said.

20. Parliamentary panel to probe BSNL's poor FY10 show
Posted by: "Bandhan.P.Singh" email13@gmail.com bsnl_chd
Date: Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:12 pm ((PDT))
*Parliamentary panel to probe BSNL's poor FY10 show*A Parliamentary panel
that scrutinises the accounts of the government and state-owned companies
has *launched a probe into the dismal financial performance of BSNL*, in
search of answers to turn around the public sector telco's fortunes.
The Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC) has written to the department of
telecom to respond with strategies to improve the finances of BSNL,* which
posted a loss of Rs 1,822.7 crore for the year to end March, a first in the
company's history*. In the letter set last week, viewed by ET, the panel has
also asked DoT to specify action taken on BSNL's long-pending demand of
compensation for its loss-making landline operations, especially in rural
India.
The investigation by PAC, which examines whether public enterprises are run
efficiently, brings again into sharp focus the crushing financial blows BSNL
has received in recent years.* The panel, whose findings reach the
Comptroller and Auditor General, is also probing telecom minister A Raja's
move to award telecom licences in 2008 at rates fixed in 2001. *
*PAC's scrutiny of BSNL's running is expected to put more pressure on Mr
Raja,* whose actions the panel has found have had a direct bearing on the
company's dwindling fortunes. *BSNL's initial tender for 45 million Global
System for Mobile Communications (GSM) lines in 2006 was slashed to 14
million by Mr Raja. *
*A follow-on tender for 93 million GSM lines, the world's largest equipment
order, was cancelled after a series of controversies, even as rivals such as
Bharti Airtel, Reliance Communications and the Tatas expanded to feed an
expanding customer base. *
*The PAC has pointed out that the 'single most important reason' behind
BSNL's decline was failure of the tender, leading to non-supply of
equipment, which eventually resulted in the state-owned operator losing
market share.* The panel has also sent a barrage of questions to the DoT
seeking an explanation as well as answers on the department's role or
intervention in the cancellation of the tender.

21. BSNL's franchise model plan for Wimax runs into DoT roadblock
Posted by: "Bandhan.P.Singh" email13@gmail.com bsnl_chd
Date: Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:14 pm ((PDT))
BSNL's franchise model plan for Wimax runs into DoT roadblock
Plans by state-owned telecom services provider Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd
(BSNL) to follow the franchise model—offering its spectrum and brand name to
other firms to launch wireless broadband services in return for a share of
their revenue—*may run into more delays.*
*The department of telecommunications (DoT) has objected to changes made by
BSNL in the agreements it offered to selected franchisees to launch services
using the so-called wireless inter-operability for microwave access, or
Wimax, technology.*
"The changes are very different from the expression of interest (EoI) on the
basis of which the franchisees bid for the subsequent tender that came out,"
said a senior DoT official. "This is a public document and it is not correct
that the changes were made in the final agreements."
The official didn't want to be named because he isn't authorised to speak to
the media.
DoT has objected to changes made to seven clauses in the original EoI that
was first issued in September 2009. Of these the most significant is that
the franchisees would be allowed a year's moratorium from paying spectrum
charges after the agreement is signed.
DoT officials say this would not make the business case favourable in the
long run.
Another issue relates to the recovery of the spectrum cost from franchisees.
According to the final agreement, the spectrum charge will be recovered
through equated monthly instalments (EMI) calculated at an interest rate of
10.8% over a 15-year period after the one-year moratorium.
In addition to the EMI, the annual spectrum charges (1% of annual revenues)
will be deducted from the revenue as pass-through cost. The EOI states that
the spectrum charges would be recovered from the franchisee at the rate of
4% of total revenue.
The tender for Wimax operations was awarded to four firms in January. These
included Noida-based *Teracom Ltd*, backed by Cisco Systems Inc., for
Karnataka, Rajasthan, and Bihar operating areas; and Chennai-based *Take
Solutions Ltd*, working with *ZTE Corp.* of China, in Tamil Nadu (minus
Chennai), Uttar Pradesh (West) and Orissa.
*Adishwar India Ltd*, in partnership with *Alvarion Ltd*, took Kolkata and
Madhya Pradesh; *Ampoules and Auto Pvt. Ltd*, also partnering Alvarion, won
Chennai, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh.
DoT's objections have been brought up by the government's representative on
BSNL's board, R.N. Jha, who is also director responsible for international
relations at DoT.
"It is mentioned that the EoI after floating of tender is a public document
and the franchisees too have quoted the rates and made their plans on these
documents, *so it is imperative the clauses of the EOI be taken as base
reference and the agreement should not deviate in content,*" said a note
from the government director seen by *Mint*.
BSNL officials didn't respond to text messages and phone calls. The
objections will now be brought in front of the board of BSNL that will have
to take a final call on the matter.
