Please read this..very inspiring… J

Suvendu Roy of Titan Industries shares his inspirational encounter with a rickshaw driver in Mumbai:
Last Sunday, my wife, kid, and I had to travel to Andheri from Bandra.
When I waved at a passing auto rickshaw, little did
I expect that this ride would be any different...

As we set off, my eyes fell on a few magazines (kept in an aircraft style pouch) behind the driver's back rest.

I looked in front and there was a small TV. The driver had put on the Doordarshan channel.

My wife and I looked at each other with disbelief and amusement. In front of me was a small first-aid box with cotton, dettol and some medicines.
This was enough for me to realise that I was in a special vehicle.
Then I looked round again, and discovered more - there was a radio, fire extinguisher, wall clock, calendar, and pictures and symbols of all faiths
- from Islam and Christianity to Buddhism, Hinduism and Sikhism.
There were also pictures of the heroes of 26/11- Kamte, Salaskar, Karkare and Unnikrishnan.
I realised that not only my vehicle, but also my driver was special.

I started chatting with him and the initial sense of ridicule and disbelief gradually diminished.
I gathered that he had been driving an auto rickshaw for the past 8-9 years; he had lost his job when his employer's plastic company was shut down.
He had two school-going children, and he drove from 8 in the morning till 10 at night.
No break unless he was unwell. "Sahab, ghar mein baith ke T.V dekh kar kya faida? Do paisa income karega toh future mein kaam aayega."

We realised that we had come across a man who represents Mumbai – the spirit of work, the spirit of travel and the spirit of excelling in life.
I asked him whether he does anything else as I figured that he did not have too much spare time.
He said that he goes to an old age home for women in Andheri once a week or whenever he has some extra income, where he donates tooth brushes, toothpastes, soap, hair oil, and other items of daily use.
He pointed out to a painted message below the meter that read: "25 per cent discount on metered fare for the handicapped.
Free rides for blind passengers up to Rs. 50.

My wife and I were struck with awe. The man was a HERO!

A hero who deserves all our respect!!!

Our journey came to an end;

45 minutes of a lesson in humility, selflessness, and of a hero-worshipping Mumbai, my temporary home.

We disembarked, and all I could do was
to pay him a tip that would hardly cover a
free ride for a blind man.

I hope, one day, you too have a chance to meet Mr Sandeep Bachhe in his auto rickshaw: MH-02-Z-8508.

5. PMO refers BSNL's jinxed 93-mn-line tender to Pitroda.

PMO refers BSNL's jinxed 93-mn-line tender to Pitroda BS Reporter / New
Delhi February 06, 2010, 1:06 IST

The controversial 93-million GSM line tender of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd
(BSNL) has now been referred to Sam Pitroda, the Prime Ministers advisor on
infrastructure and innovation.

The PMs Office had told the Department of Telecommunications to refer the
entire vexed issue to Pitroda, a ministry official confirmed.

This directive came after Communications and Information Technology Minister
A Raja wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, seeking his
intervention for early resolution of the controversy. The minister had said
corporate rivalry was affecting the decision.

BSNL had invited bids for laying 93 million GSM lines at an estimated cost
of about Rs 36,000 crore. But, the company had not been able to place the
order because of various issues legal battles and the home ministrys
directive that the government undertaking cannot award orders to Chinese
companies in border areas.

Last month, the PM had constituted a committee under Pitroda to look into
the functioning of the two government telecom units, BSNL and MTNL.

Currently, the Chief Vigilance Commissioner (CVC) is looking into the
controversies regarding the BSNL tender. It is learnt his office had
recommended scrapping the tender and issue of a new one. The matter was
referred to the CVC after telecom equipment provider Nokia Siemens,
disqualified on technical reasons, petitioned the courts. However, the high
court here had upheld the disqualification.

Raja has, however, opposed CVC's decision for a fresh or snap tender, saying
this could also be challenged by any disgruntled party. "BSNL needs these
lines badly in view of its rapidly declining market share, and inadequate
capacity to add mobile subscribers may lead to further deterioration," the
minister had said in his letter to the PM.

7. The Most Weird & Futuristic Cell Phones Ever!
Posted by: "♥♥Gurmeet♥♥" imgsd4u@yahoo.com imgsd4u
Date: Wed Feb 10, 2010 2:40 am ((PST))

Here's a look at some downright weird and wacky cell phone designs. Some of these are concept designs and sure are very interesting!

1. The Natural Year Phone by Je-Hyun Kim

This was created in the name of recycling... after all, how durable do we want our devices to be when they become near-obsolete in five years? The phone is made of hay (or should we say of "weed"?) and completely disintegrates in two years' time - only the screen and soft keys remain behind, and even these may be subsequently recycled. However, we have doubts about its practicality. Just one of those "nice to see, good to hold... but no thanks!" pieces of technology

(designer: Je-Hyun Kim)

2. Window Phone by Seunghan Song

What features would you like on your phone today, mister? The weather? Done! The Brits may like this glass cell phone concept, as it will predictably predict even the most unpredictable English weather, if such a thing is at all possible.

(designer: Seunghan Song)

3. Cell Phone Inspired By Chinese Scrolls, by Yun Liang

A roll-out display and cute buttons placed on the scroll are definitely hot-looking... but imagine using this piece on an everyday basis. If you'd need to pull the display out in a jiffy, then the tactile bit for keypad will last as long as you treat the baton well. Key words… treat the baton well.

(designer: Yun Liang)

4. Easy Tiles Phone by Tzu-Fu Wang

What would you do if you didn't have the iPhone or its cool apps and games to while away your time? Sorry, didn't meant to scare you… lemme rephrase, your iPhone is SAFE and SOUND, but give the Easy Tiles Phone a second's thought. Easily upgradable apps that slide in and around the phone, make this one of those DIY thangs that give you total control to upgrade the gizmo as you like. Let's also assume you have a postal address in Utopia and upgrades are dirt-cheap!

(designer: Tzu-Fu Wang)

5. Radia - Circular Cell Phone by Michael Laut

Who says cell phone has to be rectangular? An oddball round shape can also be suitably scintillating. No kidding, but this one might be a feasible design for Paris Hilton, who loves to talk in circles... literally!

Designer: Michael Laut

And we've barely even scratched the (non-scratch) surface! Here's still more…

Dear all,

* I am an Ex-serviceman served in Indian Air Force for 20 years in communication and computer maintenance field (Radio Fitter in ADGES stream). After completion of initial engagement of 20 years service got discharge from IAF in May 2005 in the Rank of Junior Warrant Officer. I am a Diploma holder in Electronics / communication and likely to get Equivalent to Degree in Engineering (Electronics / Communication) certificate soon from IAF for the purpose of Job opportunities in central / state govt & PSUs.
* I joined in BSNL as a DR TTA in November 2008 and working in an C-DOT MBM exchange in Trichy SSA in Tamil Nadu.
* I request for clarification from anyone regarding the following points:
1. Is there any seniority / priority / concession / consideration given to Ex-servicemen in BSNL considering the prior service put up by us to the nation ?.
2. If yes what are the benefits available and based on what rules and what is channel to get that?
3. Is their any weight-age given for the past Govt-service for appearing in TTA to JTO LDCE ?
4. If yes what is the rule and applicability?
Kind & early clarification from the King Pins of BSNL is solicited.

Thanking you in anticipation,

With Warm regards,
R.Seethapathi

12. Helpful Tips on Eye Care
Posted by: "♥♥Gurmeet♥♥" imgsd4u@yahoo.com imgsd4u
Date: Wed Feb 10, 2010 2:41 am ((PST))

With so many of us spending lots of time in front of the computer every day it comes to no surprise that research is showing a rise in visual problems. What can one do? First, it's important to find out how you can protect your eyes through eye health exams and by making a few minor changes in your computer viewing habits.

Here are some helpful Eye Care Tips -
Positioning is everything
Correct positioning of your computer, keyboard and typing copy is essential. Your screen should be positioned about an arm's length from your eyes and 20 degrees below eye level. Consider foot and wrist rests for added comfort.

Lighting can make all the difference
Room lighting should be diffuse, not direct, to reduce glare and reflections from your screen. Look into an internal or external glare screen and be sure to set your colour, contrast and brightness levels to suit you.

A little extra help for your glasses
Anti-reflective coatings on the lenses of your glasses can be applied by your optometrist to reduce discomfort and to ease reduced vision from bright and/or flickering light sources such as VDTs and fluorescent lights. And don't forget, your doctor of optometry can talk to you about eyeglasses designed specifically for people who use computers a lot.

Take time out, our 20-20-20 rule

Step I :-
After every 20 minutes of looking into the computer screen, turn your
head and try to look at any object placed at least 20 feet away. This
changes the focal length of your eyes, a must-do for the tired eyes.

Step II :-
Try and blink your eyes for 20 times in succession, to moisten them.

Step III :-
Time permitting of course, one should walk 20 paces after every 20 minutes
of sitting in one particular posture. Helps blood circulation for the entire body.

It's all in the blinking
Did you know that on average we blink 12 times per minute? But wait, did you know that when we're on the computer we only blink 5 times per minute? That can add up to dry eyes. Relieve the discomfort by using artificial tear drops or gels and remember to blink!

Palming

Sit straight at your workstation and rub your palms against each other till you feel them warm. The warmth of your palms helps soothe and relax tired eyes. Then, lightly cup your eyes with your palms and relax for 60 seconds. Count the seconds in your mind. Repeat this exercise two to three times whenever your eyes feel tired, or as often as you want. While palming, you can either rest your elbows on your desk or keep away from the desk and cup your eyes. Both ways are fine.

Splash water on your face

During breaks, splash water on your face while closing your eyes. This has an overall relaxing effect and helps you feel refreshed.

Use tea bags

Keep two used tea bags in the refrigerator before you leave for work. Once you are home, place the tea bags on your eyes for a few minutes as you relax. This not only soothes tired eyes, but also reduces puffiness.

Eat healthy

Incorporate Vitamins A, C, and E on a daily basis; eat citrus fruits, green leafy veggies, tomatoes, spinach, poultry and dairy products. Pack a box of chopped carrots, cucumber and fresh fruits and munch in-between meals at the office.

Hi friends,
First of all i wish all our TTA friends who are trying for reducuing the eligible service condition to 5 yrs. I have few words for all of u.
The main objective of formation of SNATTA is for a better carre prospects for TTAs. After a huge struggle of our friends the exam is being conducted by the BSNL management. But bad luck is of 7 yrs eligibility.
wht ever we got is we got. let it be in the stream line, please do not disturb it by going to court cases. Once it is stream lined the process continues, and we shall put all our efforts to make it streamlined. Lets take the case of uttaranchal where notification was already issued for 24 posts under 35% quota and only 4 TTAs are eligible for d exam.. Once d exam is completed and those 4 becomes JTOs, d remaining 20 posts be in our account only and will be stolen by none. then we can pressurize for another exam n by d time many of our friends get eligibility of 7 yrs. Hence i request you once again to put all d pressure required for decreasing d eligibility to 5 yrs, but not go in a legal way
P.Ranganath,
TTA, Sangareddy

Dear Members,
While talking to the management reg relaxation, these points need to be emphasised. Because for no fault of such friends they are deprived of their oppurtunity. In tamilnadu also a batch scheduled to start on 1.7.2002 delayed and they cant appear. Its very sad. But dont woorry such friends we all deserve to be JTo and we will get that.Wait and watch.

DID YOU EVER THINK LIKE THIS!!!

Do you know?

a human body can bear only upto 45 Del (unit) of pain.

But at the time of giving birth, a woman feels upto 57 Del of Pain.

This is similar to 20 bones getting fractured at a time!!!!
