for win2000 we have to load pppoe dialer software or winpoet software u can download it from net or if sub permitted u can put the router in pppoe mode(alwaya on). regarding ping command it is used to check connectivity between system n our adsl router.if it shows request timed out then check local area connection sent n recv bytes if recv bytes r 0 then check whether ip address given or not,if not give 192.168.1.2 to 255 as system ip subnet mask 255.255.255.0 gateway as 192.168.1.1. if recv bytes increased then check ping command again. sometimes sub assigns a different ip address u have to remove it n assign

automatically or our ip address.
