*BSNL achieves tangible growth in telecom services in Andaman & Nicobar
islands*
BSNL has achieved substantial growth in telecom services in the Andaman and
Nicober Islands with its customer base having touched the 1,82,003 figure
base.
Chief General Manager BSNL V K Sanjeev told media the overall tele-density
in the islands, including private operations, is 62 per cent, having crossed
the all India figure of 58 per cent, of which BSNL alone shares 36 per cent.
Sanjeevi said broadband facility is now available in all the exchanges of
south, middle and north Andaman through optic fibre connectivity with Port
Blair while other islands will be connected progressively.
He said public telephones are operational in 341 villages while a call
centre was working to help customers.

4. Good Article >>> How to Negotiate for a Higher Salary.
Posted by: "Bandhan.P.Singh" email13@gmail.com bsnl_chd

*How to Negotiate for a Higher Salary*
You have your dream interview lined up. But how do you ensure that you get
the best possible salary?
While the pay for junior-level positions is typically fixed, mid- to
senior-level employees and managers have more flexibility to negotiate their
salaries. *Here are eight tips from recruiters and human-resource managers
that can help improve your chances of snagging a high salary.*
*1. Research, research, research*
To get a better salary, begin by figuring out whats the highest you can
get. *Do good homework on what are the prevailing salaries for a similar
role in the industry*, says Sanjay Pandit, managing director of recruiting
firm Manpower Services India.
This is easier said than done, because companies dont exactly publish their
pay scales in the newspaper.
Ask your friends or trustworthy colleagues about potential salaries for
someone with your relevant experience and skills. If you are working through
a recruiting company, they might be able to give you a range.
*Finally, you can try using networking web sites like LinkedIn to connect
with people in the field or company you are applying to, who in turn could
provide you with some guidance*.
It might help to dig through the annual reports of the company you are
applying to and read recent news reports, in order to figure out how the
company is doing financially. A larger and more successful company can
afford to pay higher salaries than a smaller or struggling one.
*2. Curb your eagerness*
As with any negotiation, if you convey your eagerness for something, you
lose your bargaining power. Whoever shows more interest always gets less,
says Sanjay Muthal, managing director of executive search firm NuGrid
Consulting Pvt. Ltd., in Mumbai.
Candidates need to strike a balance between appearing interested in the
particular job, and not appearing too eager.
*Mr. Muthal advises talking about macro issues such as the role youre
applying for and potential responsibilities, rather than discussing the
nitty-gritty of expected pay. If you generate a terrific impression, then
salary follows, he says.*
*3. Wait to be asked*
Candidates should not begin the salary discussion because that makes them
come across as being too money-minded, says Zak Parker, regional HR
director of North Africa, Middle East & Southern Asia for security services
firm G4S PLC.
Wait for the company to start the salary negotiation. It might help to delay
the discussion till all interview rounds are over. The further along you are
in the interview process, the more interested the hiring managers would be
in you. That puts you in a better position to ask for a higher salary,
because the manager might go back to the human resources team or the
budgeting team to ask for more money for you.
*4. Be honest*
Sooner or later, the interviewing company will ask for your current
salary.*Employers now extensively use background checks to fact-check
the
information you give, so dont be foolish enough to fudge your salary*.
Youll get caught very quickly and easily, says Mr. Parker.
*5. Whats the right hike?*
*Experts say that in the current market environment, an increase of 20% to
30% above your current salary is reasonable to ask. *However, in industries
or positions that have a talent shortage, such as life sciences, or *even
some jobs in the information-technology industry, you could get as much as
double the salary.* Heres where your research will come handy.
Also, dont be shy in asking for high salary. Many times Ive seen people
who are very shy when it comes to salary, says Mr. Pandit of
Manpower.*Sometimes candidates say I have no expectations, you give
me whatever you
want, or Im sure you will take care of me, he says.*
However, these people often end up getting disappointed, and sometimes walk
away at the last minute. That can hurt them in the long run, says Mr.
Pandit, because the world is small.
*6. The first discussion*
If the company comes back to you with a first salary offer which is below
your expectations, dont immediately give in.
The fact that the company has made you an offer is a good sign, because it
shows they really want you. Try one of the following ways to get them to
increase their offer.
Start by saying something like:* Id really like to work for you, but the
financials are not really working out,* says Mr. Parker. Is there a
possibility that we can look at this again?
You could talk about how you are happy in your current job, and the only
reason you are interviewing for this position is because you are attracted
to the role. You could highlight what the market value is for a person with
your skills and experience, or the value youve brought to your current
employer.
*One commonly used tactic is to say that you are talking to one or two other
companies for a position as well; companies cant usually verify that.*
*7. Ask for perks*
Often, companies have a salary range fixed for different designations, and
they may not be comfortable making an exception for one employee.
In that case, *you could try asking for additional perks that could help
indirectly boost your salary.* Companies often prefer one-time perks, such
as a signing bonus or a fixed bonus, and suggest asking for a possible raise
or re-evaluation within a year or less.
*8. Be ready to walk away*
Sometimes companies may propose to you a particular salary and say: Take it
or leave it. Unless you are in dire need of the job, Mr. Muthal suggests
walking away, though at good terms. Nine out of ten times, you will hear
back from the company, says Mr. Muthal.
Of course, this is a risky tactic because theres a chance that you might
not hear back at all!

Hello Venkatesan,
In usual practice, SDE (HR) himself calls the units to submit the recommendations for confirmation in the prescribed performa recommended by controlling SDE and Countersigned by DET/AGM. You have to first confirm from the SDE (HR) of your SSA that whether they have asked your SDE to supply the same.
Also, you can confirm from your batch-mates that whether they have been issued confirmation letters and refund of security. This is because the whole process is time consuming involving lots of channels and paper work.
So just be patient as I believe that they will take at-least 6 months for issuing confirmation letters and thereafter, more time will be taken for refund of security in routine.
You can also check your confirmation status from the HR Portal.

In case, the bond period is completed and the recommendation for the confirmation has been submitted by your controlling authority, you can send a request to the SDE (HR) of your SSA THROUGH PROPER CHANNEL for refund of the above said security.

dear friend,
As u have mentioned about the facts but pls think again, Is the BSNLEU or any
other union, only responsible for our misries and all the problems ? Sir our so
called representative are also equally responsible for it. Why these people
cannot show courage to say that they will not give single penny to BSNLEU other
then union subscription till SNATTA supporting this BSNLEU?? and why our circle
leaders are quiet now on these issues? Why till date there is no circle
confrence concluded till date are we people not leading the same way on which
the BSNLEU by trying to save our seats and posts only! since it is the infancy
stage of the association huge political planning seems to be done here in SNATTA
everywhere,WHY ?What so called unions matured in these tacts after a very long
time but our peoples are smart enough to apply these ill traits so early
whereever notrequired at all !! Even we have LCM and RCM ,NCM seats till date
BROADBAND convayance,Para-8 transfer cases and many more pending issues for what
you have asked for?? So pls. take some corrective and remedial measures in your
association at circle level specially because the matter is in worse condition
here. So unite and strengthen SNATTA and go forward with right approach.

Subject: TTABSNL war has begun between SNATTA and BSNLEU
Hi all my dear TTA's,
As our high command ordered to go on duty on the last strike of 07-09-2010,
annoyed from this, BSNLEU leaders are trying to test our unity by creating
pressure on management to implement the decisions against our TTA friends to
show that they can do anything. Some of the examples are the suspending of distt
secy of ropar ssa, providing charge sheets to some of our SNATTA leaders,
transferring of some of our leaders etc. i was also threatened of being
transferred and it happened also. i am trying to sort out the matter but it
seems that the days of BSNLEU are over now. and i am dam sure that no body will
vote for them who are creating threat among our friends. In amritsar app 125
tta's out of 132 are against the bsnleu leaders due to their mis leading the
management and only one mission that is collecting as much money as they can,
may be through commissions from hospitals empaneled, from contractors or issuing
transfer orders in lieu of collecting money (the rate fixed is rs. 10000 for
outer to city transfer), appointment of new tta's was also done on this basis (
rs. 20000 for appointment in city). as all our tta friends know that bsnleu
leaders only used our leaders for collecting votes only. none of the issues were
settled . still same designation, no designation change, still no LICE JTO exam,
still 5 yr condition is not reached , still pay scale of tta who does almost all
the works is lower than a toa who is almost free or having very less or no work.
my friends wake up now, try to understand the politics of the leaders, this is a
spider net, try to cut it, don't try to come out of it as u will indulge more
and more if u kept trying of getting out of one and indulging in other one.
my best wishes are always with u my friends
