[TTABSNL] Launch of 3G , IPTV & PRBT Services at Amritsar



The much talked about 3G services and IPTV service of BSNL have finally become a reality for the customers of BSNL Amritsar.  Shri Kuldeep Goyal, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, BSNL, India's largest integrated telecom service provider, launched the above services in Amritsar on 5th of June 2009. On the occasion Shri Rajesh Wadhwa   Director ( Operations ) BSNL, New Delhi was also present. The  3G Mobile services shall be available on 2100 MHZ.

 

         In his welcome address Shri P.K.Paliwal, Chief General Manager, Punjab Circle said that Punjab Telecom Circle is thankful for selecting Amritsar  for launching of 3G Mobile services . In the grand launch of 3G Mobile services, Shri Kuldeep Goyal, CMD,BSNL made inaugural call to Shri Rajesh Wadhwa, Dir (Opr),  at Amritsar.

 

         Shri Kuldeep Goyal while launching  said the main advantage of the 3G service shall be to those customers, who require very high speed data transfer through the mobile phone. Video calls and video conferencing has  become a reality through the mobile phone and also viewing of Television on mobile set will be of high quality. 3G service user set can always be connected and online, even while on the move, country side or down-town, at home or at work, and can download at much higher speed .   In comparison to normal 2G network , the 3G download is 20 times faster .

         Various advantages of 3G are as follows:

1.      High speed Broadband.

2.      View video footage/clips on your mobile Handset.

3.      Make video calls.

4.      Watch live TV

5.      High speed Internet, while on move.

6.      Receive E-mails.

7.      Download music tracks.

8.      Live streaming ( Live sports matches, shows etc.)

9.      Video messaging.

10.    Download video games.

 

         While informing the press about crossing the 28 lakhs figure for mobile customers in Punjab, Shri Kuldeep Goyal, thanked the customers of BSNL Punjab.  He mentioned that this special feat has been achieved due to hard work of the BSNL officers and workers along with patronizing attitude of Punjab state people towards  BSNL, which is hundred percent  Govt. of India, owned Enterprise.  The all India figure for Mobile costomers stood at 48.181 million for BSNL as on 31-5-09, with more than Eight  thousand customers in 3G.

 

         Shri Kuldeep Goyal while launching IPTV services in Amritsar intimated that Amritsar is the fifth city in Punjab Circle where IPTV has been launched.  For this IPTV service, BSNL is using equipment from M/s AKSH.  Speaking on the launch, Shri Kuldeep Goyal, CMD, BSNL said " BSNL believes in providing world class telecom and technological services to its customers at a competitive price.  Our venture with Aksh Optifibre fulfils our mission in providing such services to the subscribers.  With this partnership, BSNL would help increase the reach of IPTV to many homes".   In this service the TV channels are encoded in IP format and delivered to TV using a Set Top Box.  IPTV services also include video on demand which is similar to watching video CD/DVDs using a VCD/DVD player.  IPTV service helps you control television the way you want.  It is now you, who decide what to watch and also when to watch.

 

         Speaking on the occasion Shri P.K.Paliwal CGM Punjab Circle informed that the monthly charge presently is Rs.150/- p.m. in which total of 105 TV channels would be available.  It includes prime channels like Star, Zee, Sony, DD, NDTV, Sahara etc.  Security deposit per Set Top Box is Rs.999/- which is refundable.  There are more than 36 Lac Broad band customers with around twelve thousand plus IPTV customers pan India as on 30-5-09.

 

All you need to have for IPTV service, is a TV set, a BSNL landline connection with Broadband connectivity. The Set Top Box which is required to encode the TV channels will be installed at the customer end.  With IPTV service one can view Indian, International and regional movies on demand with the click of a button, with world class digital quality picture and digital clear sound.

 

On the above occasion Shri Kuldeep Goyal, also launched the PRBT (Premium Ring Back Tone) on the landline. The PRBT services would now also be available to the landline customers of Punjab. The charges for the same are same as in mobile and one can subscribe to the said service with monthly charge of Rs 25/- per month only. For song change ,the charges are only Rs 12/- per song change.

 

Shri P.K.Paliwal informed that for further queries and any information regarding tariffs, various plans etc on 3G, customers can have the same by dialing 0183-2228688. For booking of 3G prospective customers can book the same on telephone number 0183- 2505051 and also through BSNL franchisees, (i) Sh Randeep Singh of M/s Digitec Computers on telephone numbers 9417000689, (ii) Sh. Jasjeet Singh of M/s US Computers – 9464777770, and (iii) Sh Gaurav of M/s Airtec Refrigeration – 9464117200. Various tariff plans are available in 3G, like in voice plan post paid one can enjoy 3G services with monthly charges as low as Rs 500  p.m.  In prepaid segment one can avail 3G services for only Rs 350, and similarly in data segment one can have the the experience of 3G under data plan MBV 250 for only Rs 250 .

             During the function, the presentation about 3G was made by M/s Erricsson and about IPTV the presentation was given by M/S Aksh. At the occasion of the launch , the dais was also shared by Shri Sanjeet Pradhan of M/s Ericcson and Dr Kailash S Choudhri  of M/s Aksh and GMTD Amritsar Shri R.K. Dawra . Also present on the  occasion  were Shri A.K.Bhargava GM( Mobile), Shri M.S.Dhillon GM( Nodal Centre),  Shri U.N.Rai CE ( Elec),  Shri Shailendra.k.Sharma GM (Mktg), Sh V.K.Ahuja, GM(Mobile), Sh Sandeep Diwan GM (Dev), Sh Kamal Kumar GM ( BD), Shri Sushil Kansal DGM (WLL) and Shri A.K..Karara DGM (Opr), from Chandigarh along with SSA heads of Punjab Telecom Circle.
